On
the central plateau of the Jura, the Région des Lacs
contains around 100 stretches of water of various sizes, in settings
ranging from the grandiose to the secluted.
Situated between Lons-le-Saunier and St-Claude at 429 m above sea
level, Vouglans is the most imposing of these stretches of water
and the 3rd largest lake in terms of volume in France. It covers
35 km from north to south and has an area of 1 600 ha. |
